“The parts we’ve used in the last few races have been much better and this is really the best test,” he said of the qualifying result, where they were eleventh. “On this type of track, I think if we had the car we had at the start of the year, we would have been battling to be, I think, four-and-a-half tenths off the best time in the second quarter.”

“We are working hard to release updates to resolve issues as quickly as possible,” confirmed Tom McCullough. “Sometimes it’s useful to look back at old races and compare them to other data, not just lap times, because there are other factors that come into play, and just with pure downforce, everything is moving so fast that it’s just a relative game.” . “
“Our car’s DRS features and performance are now different from last year’s, but that doesn’t matter, it’s just a relative improvement and we’re working very hard in the factory and starting to see the benefits of that,” he said. “So I think from Bahrain to now, and from now until the end of the season, we have every opportunity to make some relative progress compared to what we were able to do in the past.
