Asturias begins a vaccination campaign against influenza and covid
In Asturias, this Monday, September 30, the vaccination campaign against influenza and covid in nursing homes began. The campaign will be extended to the rest of the risk groups from next Monday, October 7, and will be available until the end of the season.
- In turn, immunization against syncytial virus, which causes bronchiolitis, will be provided to all children born since April 1 and other people at risk.
Flu shots. The Principality of Asturias’ health service has a total of 399,000 doses of five types of influenza vaccines for this campaign to “provide every person with the vaccine that best suits their needs.”
Vaccines against covid. In the case of Covid, the regional health service will have a single vaccine in this campaign, which will be available in three forms: adults, children from five to 12 years old and children from six months to five years.
Who is the target of the flu and covid vaccination campaign in Asturias? The vaccines are specifically intended for the following populations:
- People over 60 years old.
- Children under 5 years of age and people in disability centers and nursing homes.
- Children over 12 years of age with risk conditions such as diabetes mellitus, morbid obesity, chronic cardiovascular and neurological diseases, etc.
- Pregnant women or in the first months after childbirth.
- Living with immunocompromised people.
- Staff of health centers, social health centers and workers of essential government services.
Where are they used? All flu and covid vaccines will be administered in primary health care centers and offices of the Principality of Asturias Health Service (Sespa) until the end of the season.
