At least three people killed and dozens injured after bombing of a hospital in Gaza

According to the Palestinian Agency, several people were killed and many injured when Israeli forces bombed tents set up for displaced people in Gaza’s Al-Aqsa hospital this morning. The Hamas government in the enclave reported three dead and forty wounded, with the Al Jazeera network putting the figure at four dead and about seventy wounded.

The Hamas-controlled Gaza Health Ministry condemned a day earlier that hospitals in northern Gaza remain under Israeli siege for the eighth consecutive day, “putting patients’ lives at risk.” It is the seventh time that Israel has attacked the same center, Gazan officials said in a statement.

As is often the case, the Israeli Armed Forces justified the attack by saying that it was directed against Hamas soldiers. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed in a statement issued early Monday that they launched a “precision strike against terrorists” who were operating a command center described as a former hospital.

Also this Sunday, at least 19 Palestinians were killed by Israeli artillery bombardment of a school near the al-Mufti area, north of the al-Nuseirat refugee camp in the center of the Gaza Strip.

More than 300 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks in northern Gaza since Israel launched a new ground campaign in the area on October 6, the Strip’s government, which is in the hands of Hamas, announced on Sunday.

Israel launched its offensive against Gaza on October 7, 2023, following a Hamas attack on Israel that killed more than 1,200 and abducted 251, leaving more than 42,200 dead in the Palestinian territory and 98,400 displaced. Others were injured.
