At only 22 years old, Bratty is the only Mexican at the Coachella Festival – El Sol de Córdoba

At just 22 years old, Bratty has dedicated the last seven years to an ascending career as a songwriter, singer and music producer. The young woman confesses that Billie Eilish is one of her sources of inspiration and she will be representing Mexico at the 11th edition of the Coachella Festival in Indio, California, where she will offer two presentations, on April 15 and 22.
Introverted, but with great inspiration, the artist from Culiacán, Sinaloa, shares that she sings to love, more than social themes. “I feel very excited, very happy, grateful to the universe for everything that happens to me. I am a shy person and everything that is happening to me leads me to tie my pants, leave my nerves and take the moment to enjoy it, ”she says in an interview with El Sol de México.
After performing at Vive Latino 2020, Coachella will no longer be a challenge, he says. “I debuted at Vive Latino when I released my first album, it was shocking because I was on stage for the first time in front of such a large audience at an international festival, it was very exciting and I keep it as a magical moment. Not everyone controls it, feeling so many looks on one. And yes, the nerves surfaced, my stomach felt sick, but I told myself ‘whatever happens’ and I enjoyed the moment I lived”.
Bratty real name Jennifer Abigail Juárez Vázquez, with a music sound called bedroom/surf pop and melancholic, writes experiential lyrics that, she admits, border on nostalgia.
Reaching the 2023 Coachella Festival, which in addition to attracting thousands of viewers, will be broadcast on YouTube, is an achievement for the young woman. “It is to take advantage of the exposure time and everything that is going to be discussed (with this invitation, as the only Mexican on the poster) and I want to give a good show so that people take it as a souvenir.”
Stepping on that stage, he acknowledges, will be an opportunity to achieve a clear objective: “I seek to show the musical evolution that I have. I hope in April I already have some unreleased songs to release at Coachella, playing songs like my most recent single Continental, which leads to a change in my music. Show myself in a renewal, a new dynamic with the band and the production on stage. That’s what I’m focusing on to get to Coachella in harmony.”
FEMININE POWER
This year Coachella has a strong load of women on its poster. Like Bratty, the soloists Rosalía, Becky G, Kali Uchis, the legendary Bjôrk and the South Korean women’s quartet Blackpink, are scheduled for the two weekends in which the festival takes place (15 and 16, 22 and 23 april).
“Just the first day I play, there will be more female representation, because the K-Pop Blackpink girl group goes, plus Rosalía.
“In general speaking of the poster, obviously I like that the idea that more women are needed to level the musical proposals in front of men is being discussed, and this female empowerment is not going unnoticed with new talents.”
Bratty declares herself to be from the generation of artists entrenched in the public’s taste for virtual platforms. “Little by little retrograde thinking regarding women is changing, there is still a long way to go to adjust things, but I am glad to be in this generation that raises its voice when it sees something strange; We already have the platforms to continue expanding our voice. I think it is something that is making a difference in these generations”.
Being a lyricist who shares her experiences, Bratty confesses that her motivation is “to be heard for my musical proposal and what I want to spread. In general, we women who are in art are already taking the reins of many things. Billie Eilish directs her own videos of hers, Rosalía produces her songs, artists abound who write 100 percent her lyrics.

“It helps me to see these artists and maybe other girls see me and do the same. We are making a chain, women can do our things by ourselves, I am an example of that, I write my songs, I produce them, I sing them”.
Bratty will also set foot on the BB Auditorium for next May 20 and is planning a tour that is still untitled this year to tour several states of the country and some Central American cities; “I am going to take advantage of the trip to Coachella for a tour in the United States, I plan to take advantage of this opportunity as much as I can”, concludes the one who has just released the single Continentaland before presented bazaar clothing in collaboration with Ed Maverick, My roomand the theme And how?
