Barcelona will play a friendly match with America a day after the La Liga match next month

A day after the La Liga clash against Almeria, Barcelona will play a friendly against Club America in Dallas on December 21.

The Spanish side confirmed on their website that immediately after their home match against Almeria, the team will head to the Americas, where they will face Club América at the Cotton Bowl Stadium.

Club sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the friendly is expected to raise around €5 million (£4.4m, $5.5m).

Barcelona faced Juventus in the summer of 2022 at the Cotton Bowl – which hosted games at the 1994 US World Cup, drawing 2–2 with two goals each from Ousmane Dembélé and Moise Kean.

The game will mark Barcelona’s return to the US for the first time since a testing pre-season tour earlier this year, where their first match was canceled after players fell ill with gastroenteritis, meaning a delay in the trip. That missed training sessions and the weather conditions (temperatures over 40C/104F in Dallas and Las Vegas) also proved to be an issue.

Xavi’s Barcelona side sit third in La Liga, four points behind leaders Verona, while Club America are seven points clear at the top of Liga MX.
