Beating: Olimpia is thrashed and humiliated by Olancho FC in a friendly

Juticalpa, Honduras.

Pedro Troglio’s Olimpia suffered a painful 4-0 win against the Potros del Olancho this Saturday in a friendly match at the Juan Ramón Brevé Vargas stadium, a week before the start of the 2022 Clausura Tournament.

The pamperos painted the face of the current champions who received a reality check and a clear warning for the upcoming contest, in which they will seek the two-time championship and in a season in which they will play the Concacaf Champions League.

Troglio initially presented a stellar eleven with Alex Güity, Maylor Núñez, Brayan Beckeles, José García, Carlos Sánchez, Carlos Pineda, Jorge Álvarez, José Mario Pinto, Kevin López, Yan Maciel and Jerry Bengtson.

At 23 minutes, Olancho nailed the first to León through midfielder Cristian Cálix, who received the ball far from the area and took a powerful right hand that was impossible for Alex Güity. Great goal!

That’s how they went to rest and the Argentine coach of the albos changed the entire team. José Mendoza, Axel Jamir Maldonado, Jonathan Paz, Julián García, M. Rodríguez, Jack Jean Baptiste, Germán Mejía, Boniek García, Edwin Solani Solano, Diego Reyes and Jorge Benguché made their entrance.

The modifications did not work for Olimpia and the Argentine striker Agustín Auzmendi, who finished the 2022 Apertura Tournament as the top scorer with 12 goals -tied with Clayvin Zúniga-, entered the field and scored a double for Olanchana’s victory.

Starting the second half, at 49′, the local defense recovered the ball and began the counterattack. Auzmendi brought it down to Carlos Ovidio Lanza, he handled the ball, opened the band for Christian Altamirano who ran a few meters, raised a beautiful three-fingered cross and Agustín shot Mendoza.

The South American ‘killer’ appeared again at minute 53′ with another hammer blow, it was an accurate header after a corner and the team that was taking the most winning team in the history of the National League of Honduras was already humiliated.

A minute earlier, José Mendoza had made the save after a great play between Auzmendí and Ovidio Lanza, who hit him hard and the Olympian goalkeeper blocked, sending a corner kick that led to the third goal for the Colts.

The beating was extended at 80′ in a set play, Mario Martínez took a low free kick and José Danilo Tobías managed to connect to send the ball into the back of the Olimpia goal.

The night ended worse for Olimpia with the expulsion of one of their signings for this season. Edwin Solani Solano saw the red card after a strong kick against Ángel Oseguera.

Now Olimpia will have to change the chip, as it will begin to prepare its debut in the Clausura 2023 Tournament, which will be on Sunday, January 22 at the Carlos Miranda de Comayagua stadium against Real Sociedad at 4:00 p.m.

The Colts of Olancho, for their part, will face the Marathón de Salomón Nazar on Saturday 21 at the Juan Ramón Brevé Vargas at 7:00 pm.
