Biden does not give his explicit endorsement to Kamala Harris as his replacement in elections

The US president, Joe Biden, asked this Sunday through a message on the social network X to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris as his replacement for the elections to be held on November 5, minutes after announcing who left the race.

,Today, I want to give Kamala my full support and endorsement to be our party’s nominee this year..Democrats: It’s time to unite and defeat Trump. Let’s do it,” the president said.

Biden published the message minutes after he published a letter announcing he was quitting his re-election race in the interest of his party and the country.

“Being your President has been the greatest honor of my life. And although it has been my intention to run for re-election, I believe the best thing for my party and country is for me to retire and focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President during the remainder of my term,” the 81-year-old President said.

Although at first he did not explicitly endorse Harris, a few minutes later he did so on the aforementioned social network.

“Fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energy on my duties as president for the remainder of my term. My first decision as the party’s nominee in 2020 was to select Kamala Harris as my running mate. And it has been and remains the best decision I’ve ever made,” the president said.

The Democratic Party is thus exploring the possibility of choosing a candidate to face former President Donald Trump (2017-2021) in the presidential election on November 5.
