Billboard recounts the artists who have debuted at #1 — LOS40 Chile

Billboard made a count of all the artists who have debuted at the top of their Hot 100 chart in recent years.

The magazine has been around since 1894, and since then it has been one of the most popular and respected in the American music industry. They even have a GLAAD Award for Best Magazine Coverage.

According to the outlet, the way to enter the Hot 100 chart is through “the current week’s hottest songs across all genres, ranked based on streaming activity from digital music sources tracked by Luminate, impressions from the Radio airplay audience measured by Luminate and sales data compiled by Luminate”. In simpler terms, the list is made up of the top 100 best-selling singles with the most weekly streams.

And although, being weekly, there are songs that go up week by week, there are others that directly reach the first place as soon as they are released. This is why Billboard highlighted the artists who have achieved it.
