Billie Eilish ‘plays’ in Zaragoza cinemas

Movie theaters are no longer a space exclusively devoted to movies. In recent times, music has been gaining space with the projection of concerts, some live and others delayed. As an example, last October one of the ‘shows’ offered by the English band Coldplay at the River Plate Monumental stadium in Buenos Aires was displayed live at the Palafox in Zaragoza. Y This Friday, January 20, the protagonist will be the American Billie Eilishwith a recital from the O2 pavilion in London.
Room 3 of the Palafox (8:00 p.m.) and Room 6 of Cinesa Puerto Venecia (7:15 p.m.) will become, a single session for an hour and 45 minutes duration, on the stage where the Californian singer starred in one of her most anticipated performances on her successful 2022 ‘Happier than ever World Tour’. “Spectators will be able to enjoy the impressive filming of the live concert recorded at the O2 in London. The Unreleased extended version of this riveting concert film takes guests on a visually captivating journey from start to finish, into the heart of Eilish’s record-breaking world tour.”
A filming that was directed by the American filmmaker Sam Wrench, who previously did similar work with Blur or Mumford & Sons. To immortalize Eilish’s show from all points of view had a team of 20 cameras equipped with integral sensors with cinematographic glass. In total, it includes her entire performance with a repertoire of 27 songs and various unpublished moments by the interpreter and some of her fans. The sound, a fundamental element, will be supported by the use of Dolby Atmos technology, which allows the sound to be immersive and transmitted from all directions, even from above, to create an immersive experience of outstanding clarity and richness.
This projection will be carried out synchronously this Friday in hundreds of cinemas all over the planet, Zaragoza being one of the Spanish cities that has joined the initiative. Good proof of the interest that it has aroused is that half of the available capacity in the Palafox has already been exceeded.
The musical programming does not end here. On February 1, 3 and 4, Palafox and Aragonia will witness the concert of the Korean group BTS in Busan, in which they address the ‘hits’ that have made them a planetary phenomenon. Cinesa Puerto Venecia and Cinesa Grancasa also join with three sessions on February 1 and one on February 3, 4 and 5.
Another musical (and television) event that will be served in the rooms will be the grand final of the Benidorm Fest on February 4. Both at Cinesa Grancasa and in Puerto Venecia, the gala in which the Spanish representative for the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest will be chosen will be broadcast live at 10:00 p.m. An opportunity to experience this party as a group, with large screens and a high projection quality. The experience can be enjoyed for a price of 8 euros (10 euros in the case of Luxe spaces). In addition, to complete the session, the entry includes a menu of medium popcorn with soft drinks so that no one goes hungry during moments of tension.
Ramón Biarnés, senior executive of the Odeon Cinemas Group – the firm that owns Cinesa – appreciates this new approach: “Cinema theaters have always been spaces where all kinds of emotions are experienced, so it is also logical that are ideal for a variety of music-related experiences.”
opera and ballet
Also, lovers of lyric, classical and dance are also pleased at the Cervantes cinema from the Aragonese capital. On February 15, ‘The Barber of Seville’ will be screened live from the London Opera House. On March 2 it will be the turn of ‘The Magic Flute’ by Mozart and on March 22 of ‘Turandot’. The Royal Ballet will perform ‘Cinderella’ on April 12. The opera will return on April 27 with ‘The Marriage of Figaro’ and on May 11 with ‘Norma’. The ballet will reappear on May 24 with ‘Sleeping Beauty’ and bel canto will put the finishing touch on June 13 with ‘Il trovatore’.
From Zarafilms, the company that operates the Palafox, Cervantes and Aragonia cinemas, their desire to continue delving into this musical theme is certified: “We have a special interest in maintaining and giving voice to this cultural sector.”
