Marvel star says return would be a “miracle”disney

Scarlett Johansson has responded to rumors that Black Widow is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Recently reports have been circulating that there are plans within Disney and Marvel Studios to bring back some of the original Avengers cast members like Johansson and Robert Downey Jr.

In an interview with The Today Show, Johansson was asked if she planned to return. Although she did not completely deny that this would ever happen, she did point out that her character’s death makes it impossible.

“I don’t know how that (would work), would it be like a zombie movie?” He said. “I mean I guess it could be, I think (Endgame) was the end, right? I don’t know how you come back from there.

“I would have to… It would be a miracle. It would be a real miracle. It would be a real miracle. But you know, who knows?”

Of course, characters in Marvel comics have been known to die and come back to life, so it could work in that sense. But then again this could dilute the tragedy of not only Black Widow’s death, but any other time a major hero dies.

Johansson herself recently said that she “feels really good about the end of her story,” adding, “I think there’s a lot of dignity in her legacy.”

In 2021, there was some drama between Johansson and Disney, as the actress took legal action against the House of Mouse over the simultaneous theatrical and Disney+ release of the Black Widow solo film, due to her salary being tied to the box office.

Following the agreement, Johansson has continued to work with Disney, developing a theme park ride movie adaptation for Tower of Terror, which is still under development following the end of the writers’ and actors’ strike in recent months.

Johansson shared an update on that project during her TODAY segment: “Now that the writers’ strike is over, we’re finally able to polish this script. It’s a huge, huge undertaking.”
