Bon Preu acquires the Danone factory in Parets del Valles to create a logistics center.
Catalan supermarket chain Bon Preu has acquired the former factory of Spanish-French giant Danone in Parets del Vallès (Barcelona) to create a new distribution centre. The transfer of the asset will take effect in the first half of 2025 and the operation was supported by the board of developer Panattoni Europe and consultants LHH. According to El Periódico, Bon Preu will allocate “30 million euros” to transform the plant into “logistics and office space”, which will create approximately “a hundred jobs.”
The new Bon Preu distribution center will reach full capacity in 2027 or 2028.
For its part, the supermarket group plans to transform the industrial facility into a logistics operations center to “strengthen its growth strategy based on innovation and operational excellence.” With this acquisition, Bon Preu also aims to offer “the best customer service, especially in the Barcelona metropolitan area,” as both companies detailed.
In addition, Bon Preu is committed to supporting economic activity in the area by ensuring the smooth operation of the plant. It will provide former Danone employees with priority participation in the selection processes for the new logistics center to facilitate continuity of operations in the region. It is predicted that adaptation work will last until 2027 or 2028, when the new distribution center will reach full capacity, El Periódico noted.
