“We knew that we would celebrate the victory of South American women’s football and women,” said Ednaldo Rodriguez, president of the Brazilian Football Confederation.
Reuters reported that Brazil’s bid to host the 10th competition received 119 votes from member associations, while Europe’s bid received 78 votes.
FIFA said “the exact dates of the competition will be confirmed in due course.”
Last month, the United States and Mexico, the other contenders to host the tournament, withdrew their joint bid and decided to focus on the 2026 tournament.
Before the vote, Brazil received the highest score in FIFA’s technical assessment report with an overall average score of 4.0 out of 5, followed by the European bid with 3.7.
“The Bid Evaluation Working Group determined that both bids met the requirements for consideration by the FIFA Council and Congress as both exceeded the minimum requirements for hosting the 2027 Women’s World Cup upon technical assessment,” FIFA said in a press release. before voting.
