British people are outraged by the discovery of general aid in Europe, from which pensioners in Spain are excluded
Recently there was a widely shared post on social media claiming that British pensioners on the Costa del Sol demand help for winter fuel (that is, to cover heating costs).
However, the British media Evening standard published an article explaining where it came from false statement. It is true that there are British pensioners who are helped to cover the aforementioned fuel costs during the winter. But Spain is not among the countries receiving this assistance.
As the above-mentioned media explain, Until 2015, residents of most European Economic Area (EEA) countries were able to apply for winter fuel payments. if they had a “true and sufficient connection” with the United Kingdom, moved to the country before 1 January 2021 and were born before 23 September 1958.
But as of 2015 The government of the country has decided that it will stop receiving these benefits. British residents in European countries and territories where winter is less severe.
Hence, British pensioners will no longer be able to receive help for winter fuel if you live in Cyprus, France, Gibraltar, Greece, Malta, Portugal or Spain.
