This week from the European Parliament in Strasbourg we are joined by MEPs Soraya Rodríguez from Renew Europe, Antonio López-Isturiz from the European People’s Party and Nacho Sánchez Amor from the Socialists and Democrats.

At a time of geopolitical turmoil, with the two-year war in Ukraine and conflict in the Middle East, we debate the EU’s role in the world. Our guests analyze whether the bloc is ready to become a major and influential player on the global stage, especially in Europe and abroad during an election year that could, among other things, lead to changes in US foreign policy.

During the plenary session, Russian rival Alexei Navalny, who died in a prison in Siberia in mid-February, was also remembered. His widow, Yulia Navalnya, addressed the plenary session in a powerful message, in which she asked MEPs to have more imagination when attacking Russia.

Finally, last Tuesday the annual report on human rights and democracy in the world prepared by Nacho Sánchez Amor was presented to the European Parliament. We debated whether the EU lives up to what it preaches and EU policies in this regard.
