Can Meryl Streep expect even more Abba fun in Mamma Mia 3?

Meryl Streep is set to begin negotiations for Mamma Mia 3, the iconic actor has revealed, saying that while she doesn’t know any story details, a meeting about the proposed production is “imminent.”

“The acting legend, who was awarded the Honorary Palme d’Or at an emotional presentation Tuesday night during the opening ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival at the Grand Théâtre Lumiere, confirmed that ‘of course I want to do it,'” Deadline detailed.

Streep starred alongside Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgård and Colin Firth in the hit 2008 musical featuring songs by Swedish pop group Abba.

The film, based on the 1999 musical of the same name, has become a queer classic.

The article noted that Streep’s character Donna, the mother of Sophie played by Amanda Seyfried, was killed off in the 2018 sequel, but Streep didn’t seem bothered by that.

“I don’t know how they’re going to do it,” the Oscar winner told Deadline. “They have an idea. I haven’t heard about it yet, but… I’ll hear about it pretty soon.”

The article included an update on another pet Streep project: the fourth season of Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building.

“This is so much fun,” Streep exclaimed, before adding, “They don’t have to pay me.”
