Regional Minister of Industry, Felipe Carrascoannounced that Generalitat will contribute to the creation of the Image business cluster Diagnostics Cancer, “with the aim of guiding the work and research related to the European Cancer Imaging Initiative in the Valencian Community.” In this sense, he emphasized that Department of Innovation, Industry, Trade and Tourism co-finances with 1.8 million euros participation Valencian Communityin the European project EUCAIM.

This project, designed in European Cancer Imaging Initiative, which aims to apply technologies such as imaging and artificial intelligence to cancer treatment and care, the Generalitat said in a statement. The Regional Secretary noted that EUCAIM research groups are working Health Research Institute Faith (KHULAFE), Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) and University of Valencia (UF) and emphasized that “now it is about encouraging the creation of spin-off companies from universities that are also working in this field, and about encouraging other companies to join forces and join the medical imaging ecosystem.”

Test solutions using artificial intelligence

The regional minister of industry emphasized that ESKAIM plans to make cancer imaging data available to Artificial Intelligence Healthcare Testing and Experimentation Centercreated within DIGITAL program. “This will allow small and medium-sized companies that have developed artificial intelligence solutions for cancer treatment to test them in real-world conditions,” he said.

“It is important to consider that clinical imaging companies using artificial intelligence are revolutionizing the medical field by providing advanced solutions for diagnosis and treatment. These companies have very high added value, play a crucial role in medical research making it easier to analyze large data sets and identify relevant trends and patterns,” concluded Carrasco.

European Cancer Imaging Initiative

European Cancer Imaging Initiative The project aims to promote innovation and digitalization in cancer treatment and care. Thus, patients with this pathology can achieve more accurate and faster clinical decision-making, diagnosis, treatment and prescribing prognostic drugs. In projectESKAIM Organizations and expert personnel are involved in such diverse knowledge disciplines as radiology, oncology, data management, computer scienceethics, laws or artificial intelligence to create cancer imaging infrastructure with over 60 million data from over 100,000 patients.

This data will allow for deeper analysis of images, extracting important information for diagnosing diseases without the need for biopsies, using less invasive methods for each patient and offering the best treatment for any type of tumor. The project has global funding of €35 million and involves a total of 79 partners from 14 countries in the region. European Union. Of the 18 Spanish organizations working on the project, three represent the Valencian Community.
