CEOE, the Government of Aragon and Amazon Web Services highlight the relevance of public-private cooperation for the Spanish economy|CEOE

In addition, the presentation of this project served as an example showing the importance of public-private cooperation in our country as an engine of the economy and a stimulus for employment and competitiveness.

During the day, the role of synergies between the public and private sectors was highlighted, and numerous benefits were listed, such as the possibility of optimizing resources, increasing the efficiency of spending, increasing investment in technology, creating more jobs, promoting competition and improving public services. among others. To this end, the day was opened by the President of the CEOE, Antonio Garamendi, and the President of the CEOE Aragón, Miguel Marcó. Then, Susana Kuric, Head of AWS in Iberia, presented the investment plan for the new technology project, and the event was closed by the President of the Government of Aragon, Jorge Azcón.

The president of the Spanish business community wanted to highlight the importance of synergy between the public and private sectors, stressing that “we can only go far if we act together, and the technology center that is being created in Aragon is an example of the good work of this cooperation”. cooperation that brings wealth, employment, innovation and well-being to the territories”.

For his part, the President of the Government of Aragon Jorge Azconstressed that in Aragon “we not only firmly believe in the importance of public-private cooperation, but we also have a roadmap based on four points: less bureaucracy, fair taxation, investment in infrastructure and the promotion of training hand in hand with companies.” In addition, Azcon added that “it is essential that governments use all the tools at our disposal to speed up and simplify the entry of large companies and the creation of thousands of jobs.”

President of CEOE Aragón, Miguel Marchstressed that the choice of Amazon Web Services “is a good example of the attractiveness of Aragon for both national and international business investments, thanks to values ​​such as geolocation, availability of land and energy, a strong and diversified business structure”, social peace and human capital. In addition, he considered that “Aragon is living a great moment for which the commitment of the multinational will be a new stimulus not only in the technology sector, but in many others.”

Project “Aragon, technology center”
Last May, AWS announced a significant investment in Aragon and Spain to create a technology hub that will transform the region and the country. Not only will the project have an impact locally, but this new investment is also expected to support 17,500 full-time jobs and annually throughout Spain over the next decade. In addition, the investment is projected to have a significant impact on the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). 21.6 billion euros by 2033, of which, 40% (12.9 billion euros) will be located in the Aragonese Community.

In terms of infrastructure, Amazon Web Services plans to expand its availability zones in three municipalities where it is already present: Villanueva de Gallego, Huesca and Burgo de Ebro. Likewise, a new center will be built in Zaragoza, which will be owned by Amazon. presence Burgo de Ebro.

This investment not only represents the largest economic contribution by the company in the history of Aragon and Spain, but is also the largest investment by a technology company in all of Southern Europe, strengthening the region’s position as a technology hub of international importance.
