By Gian Franco Gil

Both West Indians arrive in different conditions at the franchise’s spring training. Prieto owns a spot at the Double-A minor league level, while left-hander Cionel Pérez became a staple in Baltimore’s bullpen.

According to the official statement from the major league cast, Baltimore invited 30 players from its branches to show off their skills alongside players from the main cast.

César Prieto debuted in the Delmarva Shorebirds team on April 8. In his first game as a professional athlete, César hit three hits in six official visits to the offensive box, with two teammates driven towards the register, a run scored and a stolen base.

His excellent performance in the first challenges as a professional allowed him to ascend to the Double A level of the Minor League Baseball in the United States. There, with the increase in the quality of the pitchers, his performance with the bat dropped significantly, since in 368 times at bat he shot 94 hits, including 22 doubles and four home runs. Meanwhile, his offensive line was at .255 / .296 / .348 (AVE / OBP / SLG).

For his part, Cionel Pérez worked on 66 challenges during 2022 and scored seven wins with one failure. Likewise, he achieved an excellent earned run average, the product of nine legal scores in 57.2 innings of work. On the other hand, opposing hitters averaged a discreet .220.
