Xiaomi has just announced its 2024 flagship in China. Impressive before us Xiaomi 14 Ultra which builds on last year’s commitment to a more powerful processor and brighter screen than ever.
This terminal also has a slightly thicker format, which allows for a noticeable increase in battery life: we now have 5300 mAh (5000 mAh in the previous model), which promises to further increase the number of sessions with this smartphone. Let’s get to know him better.

Xiaomi 14 Ultra follows the same lines as its predecessor, the impressive Xiaomi 13 Ultra, which impressed us so well in our analysis and caused spectacular photographic bet.
Therefore, the design does not change: giant round camera module This is the clear protagonist of the rear, which in China will be available in both leather-like finishes (black, white and gray) and a sleek and elegant light blue colorway.
There is also a special variant that follows in the footsteps of Apple and Samsung and has titanium as the material around the edges of the case. There is a noticeable increase in prices for this publication: in China it costs 1000 yuan more, about 130 euros more at the exchange rate.
The dimensions change slightly; the terminal has become somewhat smaller in height, somewhat wider and somewhat thicker (from 9.06 to 9.2 mm). It’s this increase in thickness that likely has a lot to do with one of the big differences in hardware between last year’s model and this one: Battery capacity varies from 5000 to 5300 mAh..
Weight remains virtually the same at 224 or 229 grams depending on the rear trim. The buttons and the position of the USB-C connector at the bottom also do not change, and we are therefore faced with a clear heir to the design lines that already succeeded in the previous model and want to repeat the success in this one.
The biggest changes, of course, occurred in the technical specifications, and that’s all we could expect from Xiaomi’s flagship in 2024. To begin with, the 6.73-inch AMOLED screen has a 2K resolution (3200 x 1440 pixels, 522 dpi density), support for LPTO from 1 to 120 Hz and, above all, maximum brightness 3000 nitsspectacular figure.
We also have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, which in the new season is again the benchmark among high-end and ultra-high-end Android phones and guarantees maximum performance in all scenarios.
In China, the terminal also offers a satellite communication system, which offers an alternative to conventional communication if we are in an area without coverage, as well as in emergency situations.
Fast charging systems continue in the case of wired charging, the power of which reaches 90 W and can charge 50% of the battery in just 12 and a half minutes, but they are improved in the case of wireless charging, which supports up to 80W
. Thanks to this, we can charge the battery to 50% in 20 minutes.Xiaomi 14 Ultra is based on HyperOS based on Android 14. This evolution of MIUI represents a new level of customization for Xiaomi, which has just taken its first steps, but we are sure to see more and more improvements in the coming months.
Interestingly, in this presentation in China there was no mention of artificial intelligence functions which, for example, were the protagonists of the presentation of their current competitors, the Samsung Galaxy S24.
Xiaomi doesn’t seem to have much interest in these kinds of features in the mobile space. Of course: continue to use the power of artificial intelligence to improve the photographic behavior of your mobile phone.
There is a photo department absolutely central point bets on this Xiaomi 14 Ultra. In this case, the strategy uses the main sensor – the 50MP Sony Lytia LYT900, the most powerful yet in Sony’s promising new family.
It is joined by three other identical 50MP IMX858 sensors, but used for different purposes: we have an ultra-wide angle with a 122-degree field of view, as well as a 3.2x teleperiscopic sensor and another 5x teleperiscopic sensor.
This configuration allows you to play with focal lengths and apertures, offering the user promising versatility something we really (really) want to try in our future analysis. Thus, with these terminals we can access a wide range of lenses from 12 to 240 mm.
On the front, there’s a 32MP Omnivision OV32B sensor that also promises to deliver excellent selfie quality, although the rear cameras will undoubtedly take center stage.
