Charles Melton is gearing up for another romantic film with Elizabeth Olsen

Riverdale star Charles Melton is set to appear in another film depicting an inappropriate relationship with Elizabeth Olsen.

Fresh off the finale of the CW’s hit teen drama series Riverdale, Charles Melton (who played Riverdale High football player Reggie Mantle) hit the ground running with his post-series career by starring in the Netflix film based on a true story, May December.

Acting alongside Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore, Melton played Joe Yu, a young man coming to terms with the fact that his wife Elizabeth (Moore) has been grooming and abusing him since he was 13.

And it looks like Melton is once again getting into the saddle of another inappropriate relationship role, this time in a less serious setting, as it was announced that he will star in a new film alongside Marvel star Elizabeth Olsen.

Melton to star in dark comedy about love story with Olsen

It was recently announced that Melton will star in the upcoming film Love Child opposite Olsen, directed by Todd Solondz, whose credits include Dark Horse and Wiener Dog.

According to The Film Stage, the film’s synopsis reads: “The story follows 11-year-old Junior, a delusional aspiring Broadway star with a misplaced obsession with his mother (Olsen). After orchestrating an accident that nearly results in the death of his abusive father, he calls on a handsome man living in the family guest house to look after his mother and become his new father. But when they fall in love, Junior becomes so jealous of no longer being the object of his mother’s attention that he hatches a plan to frame the man for his father’s murder.”

Solondz is best known for his style of dark, socially conscious satire, so it’s no surprise that this film explores more of the dysfunctional side of the classic American family lifestyle.
