OpenAI just closed the competitive gap with Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini. Both AI platforms have been offering real-time insights for some time now. Prior to this update, ChatGPT could only provide results based on data available from 2021 to 2023.
Analysts have suggested that the launch of the new search feature could hurt Google’s business. big tech based in Mountain View, controls about 90% of Internet searches. This position allowed the company to dominate search engine advertising revenue. Despite this, some studies have shown that the quality of Google search results has declined sharply in recent years. They indicate that the company is prioritizing short-term advertising profits over user experience. In contrast, OpenAI has no immediate plans to integrate advertising into ChatGPT search.
A firm led by Altman could take a privileged position in the search segment online. At the end of 2023, compared to 2022, Google search traffic decreased by 0.4%, while Bard (also Google), Bing and ChatGPT traffic increased by 2, 8 and 4%, respectively.
