About the National Lottery
The National Lottery is the most popular and traditional game in Spain. This lottery is divided into tenths, tickets, series and fractions. Tenth – a document required to participate in the drawing, and a ticket – 10 tenths of one number and series. The series represents each of the sequences numbered from 00,000 to 99,999. Finally, the fraction is the identifier of each of the ten tenths of the same bill, that is, what distinguishes one tenth from any other, even if it belongs to the same and the same number and series.
The National Lottery draws have regular draws which are always held on Thursdays and Saturdays. They are characterized by the fact that every week they change the aesthetics of every tenth, showing different images dedicated to monuments, works of art, natural landscapes, etc. On the other hand, there are special draws that take place on Saturday, but without a fixed date, and, finally, there are extraordinary draws, where the most famous draws are held on any day of the week, but always within a fixed date (the same every year). ), for example: the Christmas Draw with a fixed prize of €400,000 for the tenth lottery draw, which is drawn every 22 December, and the Extraordinary Children’s Draw with an amount of EUR 200,000 for the tenth lottery draw, which is drawn every 6 January.
Requirements for participation in the National Lottery
The tenth is an official document that can be purchased at one of 10,500 physical points of sale. These establishments include official points of sale of Loterías y Apuestas del Estado and tobacco shops, where their sale is also permitted. On the other hand, tickets can be purchased at some bars and other commercial establishments where a management fee may apply. The purpose of selling through different types of distributors makes the commercial work of lottery administrations easier by allowing them to reach more people over a longer period of time. If you prefer, you can participate through web platforms that have the online sales service enabled. To do this, you must ensure that the website is trustworthy and offers all types of guarantees.

National Lottery tickets are bearer rights, so only those who present the tickets are considered owners.
History of the National Lottery
The National Lottery was born in 1811 during the reign of José Napoleon Bonaparte in Spain. The reign of the French Emperor divided Spain into two parts: Napoleonic Spain and the anti-French coalition. The latter was located in the southern part of Spain, where the state treasury was very dissatisfied and needed liquidity to resolve the war of independence. Ciriaco González Carvajal, secretary of the Cortes of Cadiz, took the initiative to create a new lottery system to increase government revenue, thereby avoiding the introduction of a new tax that could cause social unrest and economic problems for taxpayers. The initiative received the approval of the Cortes, and on March 4, 1812, the first draw of the Modern Lottery (the predecessor of the current National Lottery) was held.
The first draw of the modern lottery took place in Madrid on February 28, 1814, and since then the lottery’s headquarters have remained in the Spanish capital. After the death of Fernando VII, the Modern Lottery changed its name to the National Lottery.
