Cillian Murphy is opening up about how he spent his time during the SAG-AFTRA strike, and it’s a little… cheesy.
The actor and co-stars Emily Blunt and Robert Downey Jr. recently gave a Q&A about oppenheimer-which came out during the summer but had to stop promotion due to the strike.
On this occasion, Murphy was asked what it meant for him to be on the promo trail once again, as the cast had basically been “removed from the building” as they were promoting the film in July.
“It really means everything. I mean, because it was made for theaters, that’s how it was designed to be seen, so it’s great to be here with an audience watching it.” peaky blinders Starr said.
“It was very strange. It was actually London. We got to Paris, then it was London, and then it all stopped. So I’m at home right now. Eating cheese.”
Many people laughed at this and the actor said, “I recommend it.”
Then Emily Blunt asked him, “When did you stop eating cheese?” And he replied, “Tomorrow”, to more bursts of laughter.
(This, I would add, is a stark contrast to Kim Kardashian’s recent admission that she doesn’t like cheese on pizza.)
The SAG strike ended on November 9, which is a huge victory for the rights of people involved in making movies and TV shows. During four months, the actors were not allowed to work or attend any events related to their work.
This meant that they could not film, but also that they could not give the regular promotional interviews that they usually did, including posting about their projects on social media. Today, Now that the strike is over, actors have once again been allowed to resume business as usual.
