The pre-selection of Team Cuba to the World Classic continues training at the Latinoamericano stadium, although this Sunday they had a day off.
At the time the names were announced there were two main themes. The absence of Frederich Cepeda and the call of several players with participation in the Major Leagues even in the last season. They were Ronald Bolaños, Andy Ibáñez, Yoan Moncada, Luis Robert, Roenis Elías and Yoan López.
Precisely about the latter, the Cuban Baseball Federation announced on January 22, using its Twitter account, that it will not be in the upcoming World Classic.
“Yoan López informed us that he thanks, but declines the call to the Cuban team to the V World Baseball Classic. We respect his willingness to focus on issues surrounding his signing with the Yomiuri Giants. Thanks for wishing us success. Other opportunities will come ”, can be read in a post shared this afternoon.
Lopez was with the New York Mets last year and this winter it was learned that he signed in the japanese baseball with the Giants of Yomiuri.
