Dani Carvajal is out for several months due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
Dani Carvajal confirmed on his social networks that he has a “serious cruciate ligament injury” to his right knee, which occurred in the final minutes of Saturday’s League match against Villarreal.
Without an official medical report, the Real Madrid right-back uploaded to social media a photo from the ambulance in which he left the Santiago Bernabeu to undergo tests that confirmed the diagnosis.
“A serious cruciate ligament injury has been confirmed and I will have to undergo surgery and be off the playing field for several months,” he wrote.
“I’m already looking forward to starting my recovery and coming back like a beast. Thank you all so much for your messages, I feel very loved,” he added.
Dani Carvajal, who had to leave the Santiago Bernabeu pitch on a stretcher, was in tears after an action in which he injured himself while trying to hit a ball in a duel with Jeremi Pinault, failing to get his shot in and as he fell to the ground, put his hand on his right knee.
His teammates quickly called medical services, alerted to the possible severity of the injury, and Carvajal left the field in second-half stoppage time on a stretcher, crying and covering his face with his shirt.
The reaction, which foreshadowed a serious injury, was confirmed a few hours later by the publication of the football player himself.
