The Venezuelan dictatorship paid tribute this Sunday to the former president Hugo Chavez (1999-2013)on the 10th anniversary of his death, with a day that included an act at the barracks from which he led the 1992 coup against the then president, Carlos Andres Perez.

The event was attended by invited presidents and former presidents of the region, Luis Arce (Bolivia), Daniel Ortega (Nicaragua), Rafael Correa (Ecuador), Manuel Zelaya (Honduras) and Evo Morales (Bolivia).

“We come with the best spirit to transmit the feeling of the Bolivian people, that the presence of the commander is in Bolivia and we come to bring that greeting here to the brothers of Venezuela,” said President Luis Arce in statements to the state channel Venezolana de Televisión (VTV).

The president affirmed that the “most important” legacy left by Chávez is that the construction “of a new society is possible, that revolutionaries and socialists are not an invention, but a reality and that we have to fight, fight, fight with a lot of love to build a homeland that serves all Latin Americans”.

For his part, the Nicaraguan dictator, Daniel Ortega, told VTV that Chávez continues to be present “in the battles we are waging.”

“The enemy is the same, historically it has tried to subdue our peoples, it continues to attack, it continues to cause harsh situations for our peoples, the blockades, the terrorist attacks, they are attacks of all kinds that violate human rights, that violate the letters of international organizations,” he added.

Ortega indicated that on this date there should be more unity among the countries of the region.

“We have the enormous commitment, 10 years after the physical departure of our commander, (to) continue strengthening popular unity, the vanguard of the revolution in Venezuela and beyond, because this is an internationalist project,” said the Venezuelan ambassador. in Cuba, Adam Chavezbrother of the deceased president.

In the Cuartel de la Montaña, a former military museum renamed Cuatro de Febrero in honor of the 1992 date on which, from its facilities, Chávez led the coup d’état, members of the Chavista regime and sympathizers of the man who ruled the destinies of Venezuela until 2013 remembered his legacy.

Likewise, thousands of supporters of Chavismo went to the Cuartel de la Montaña to honor the memory of the president.

The United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) started on Friday the acts of commemoration of the 10 years of the death of Hugo Chávez.

Chávez died on March 5, 2013 at the age of 58, a victim of cancer, and is considered one of the most important and controversial figures of the beginning of the century in Latin America.
