Alex de Minaur remains hopeful of reaching the Nitto ATP final for the first time and positive results are following his lead. This Friday he got another one, defeating Czech Jakub Mensik of #NextGenATP 6-7(2), 6-3, 6-4 to reach the semi-finals of the Erste Bank Open.

“I’ll do everything I can. I haven’t played much tennis this year and have been out of the game for a while. So I have a lot of energy and a lot of fight. So I will try my best every time I step on the court.”

The Australian, who currently leads his Lexus ATP HeadToHead 1-0 with Mensik, will play his 25th tour-level semi-final on Saturday, with Mensik saying goodbye to a positive week that has kept him on track to qualify for Next Gen. ATP Finals presented by PIF in December. The 19-year-old athlete takes third place in the PIF ATP Live Race in Jeddah.
