Demi Lovato’s team discusses her viral “Heart Attack” performance for heart attack survivors
Demi Lovato has publicly revealed that she herself once suffered a heart attack after a drug overdose. Now, with the moment going viral online, Lovato’s team has shared a statement to E.V. about the performance, revealing that she actually discussed her reasons for choosing the song.
“She spoke about the connection between the mind and the heart,” the rep wrote. “It was a sensitive moment to protect the women in the audience – which is why Demi was at the event. She opened with a beautiful introduction about why she chose this song and spoke to the audience about the connection between the mind and the heart. “It was actually a beautiful moment.”

In his documentary series Dancing with the DevilLovato spoke about the extent of the overdose that led to her heart attack.
“I’ve had three strokes, a heart attack and brain damage from strokes,” Lovato said. “I can’t drive anymore. I have blind spots in my eyes, so sometimes when I go to pour a glass of water, I skip the cup because I can’t see it anymore. I had pneumonia because I suffocated and “I had multiple organ failure.” If she had been taken to the hospital five to ten minutes later than she was, she would have died.
