Did Ancelotti expect to retire? He reacted to the extension with Real Madrid
The Italian coach spoke about his future and thanked Brazil for taking him into account.
Carlo Ancelotti praised the extension of his contract with Real Madrid for a further two years, until June 20, 2026, showing his happiness with the fulfillment of his desire to continue, thanking the Brazilian Football Confederation for their interest and highlighting the phrase by declaring that this would be his “last bench” spares.”
“This is my last bench, I don’t know if it will be this year, but I confirm that this is my last bench. When it’s all over, I don’t know, maybe it will be 2026, or I’ll still be here later. It will depend on the success we can achieve. I want to be a coach until this year and hopefully until 2028 because I like Madrid and I want to stay here,” said the Italian coach.
Ancelotti had words for the Brazilian Football Confederation and especially for Ednaldo Rodriguez, who, when he was president, showed an interest in the Italian coach. “Everyone knows this, this is reality, Real Madrid knows that I spoke with the president of the Brazilian Federation, Ednaldo Rodriguez, to whom I am grateful for his affection and interest in coaching the Brazilian national team,” he explained.
Ancelotti joked about the possibility of becoming Brazil coach from 2026. “I can think about it, thinking about becoming Brazil coach is a wonderful dream, but I don’t know if they will want me in 2026. I don’t know if they are happy with my decision.”
