digitize everything you write on paper

Big tech companies like Apple or Samsung are obsessed with understanding written messages. Its goal is for tablets to know how to recognize lines drawn on their screens with optical pencils (pen) and display with complete accuracy the drawings or letters that users write. Both companies have done a great job in this regard. However, we must admit that writing on the screen of an iPad or Samsung Galaxy Tab is somewhat inconvenient; In this regard, the newspaper remains invincible.

Now an independent company, much smaller than Samsung or Apple, has finally decided to create a smart pen that can “understand” what we write on paper and translate it onto the screen. The invention is called the Nuwa Pen, and it will immediately appeal to students around the world.

This advanced smart pen allows users to write freely without having to worry about having to transfer everything they wrote to their computer later. nor the fear of losing the leaf. In addition, the Nuwa pen has a number of premium features that make writing more comfortable and easier, including an ergonomic design, two-hour battery life for continuous creativity, a stylish charging case, and refillable ink cartridges.

With a built-in camera system and advanced algorithms, Nuwa Pen accurately captures handwritten strokes on paper and saves them digitally for organization using the Nuwa Pen app. Users can save, share and access millions of notes while taking advantage of the Augmented Notes feature, which acts as a personal planning assistant.

Nuwa Pen is designed for people who prefer the traditional pen and pad approach, despite the dominance of screens we live in today. The pen highlights the emotional connection users have with manual note-taking and seeks to combine it with technological innovation.

“Other smart pens require you to write on special paper or a unique surface. With Nuwa Pen, you can write on any piece of paper, and we will digitize it.”– the company reports on its website. The price of the invention? $373, although it’s currently reduced to $293. The device can be purchased now, but shipments won’t begin until March.

Rain of funds for the idea

The idea is great, which is why the Dutch company behind the invention, also called Nuwa, based in Groningen, has raised €1.5 million ($1.64 million) in a new funding round, with the investment coming from a US consumer goods company . This brings Nuwa Pen’s total initial funding for the previous year to €2.5 million ($2.73 million). The funds will go toward the final phase of development of the Nuwa Pen, touted as the world’s most advanced pen for digitizing handwritten notes.

Early last year, Mark Tunier joined a government-funded Dutch delegation to the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, one of the few tech companies invited to the trip.

It was at CES that Mark first met new investors who quickly saw the potential of the Nuwa pen. Within a few months, representatives from the investment company visited Nuwa’s facilities in Groningen and funds soon arrived.
