Eight passengers hospitalised in Dublin after turbulence on a flight from Doha

Eight passengers were hospitalized this Sunday in Dublin (Ireland) due to injuries sustained during turbulence on a flight arriving from Doha (Qatar), a spokesperson for the Irish capital’s airport reported.

A total of six passengers and six crew members were injured as the Qatar Airways plane flew over Turkey, but only eight required medical treatment at the end of the journey.

The spokesperson indicated that the Boeing 787-9 landed on time and safely at Dublin Airport shortly before 12 GMT this Sunday, when emergency services were already waiting for them. “All passengers were assessed for injuries before disembarking. Eight passengers were later taken to hospital,” he added.

“The return flight to Doha (flight QR018) is scheduled to operate normally this afternoon, although it has been delayed,” said the source, who specified that the airport’s schedule has not been changed.

In a statement, Qatar Airways said that “a small number of passengers and crew suffered minor injuries during the flight and are receiving medical attention.” “The matter will be subject to an internal investigation,” it added.

The incident comes days after a 73-year-old Briton was killed and over a hundred passengers injured after a Singapore Airlines flight from London developed serious problems, forcing it to make an emergency landing in Thailand.
