Edmundo González’s voting intention is 59.1%, compared to 24.6% for Nicolás Maduro: pollsters Delfos and UCAB

According to a study by the Center for Political and Government Studies of the Andrés Bello Catholic University (CEPYG-UCAB) and pollster Delfos, presidential candidate Edmundo González Urrutia will win the presidential election on July 28 with 59.1% of intentions to vote. Nicolás Maduro will be in second place with around 25% of the vote.

During the presentation of the results of the study, Félix Cejas, director of Delphos, pointed out that in any participation scenario, high or medium, the difference between the two candidates would go between 20% and 34% in favor of the opposition.

Precisely, with regard to the probability of going to vote, the study states that it is high: 48.2% of the sample; 5.5% moderately high and 23.5% moderate. The current probability of going to vote is 53.7% (approximately 9.1 million people), which, including the four million belonging to the group of moderates, is 13 million voters (77.1% of the voter list).

Benigno Alarcón, director of UCAB’s CEPYG, said that the possible scenario of the presidential election on July 28 points to two directions: political change or conflict due to electoral fraud. “The opposition today appears to be in its best political and electoral moment, while the government is in its worst, with an electoral gap that cannot be overcome through traditional fraudulent practices,” he indicated. Finally, Cejas reported that of the 1,200 people consulted, 30.6% defined themselves as Chavistas, 40% as opposition and 29.5% claimed not to identify with any party. Likewise, 71.3% of the sample thinks that a change of government is necessary or very necessary.
