Elon Musk wants new X users to have to pay to post
Elon Musk just announced another controversial move that will likely end up costing him even more money than he gave back to old Twitter.
Elon Musk is a strange guy, formulate it somehow. The eccentric South African tycoon, whose controversy became a money cesspool for X (formerly Twitter) late last year, continues to make questionable decisions that continue to put the platform, against all odds, in the eye of the storm. That Twitter survived its first year under his leadership is nothing short of a miracle.
We will talk about one of these dubious decisions in this article. According to what we can read in TechCrunch, since Twitter Blue isn’t performing as well as it should (or perhaps the man has liquidity issues), Musk is considering charge new users a fee to post on X. And pay attention to the argument he uses.
X is considering charging new users to post because…
Unfortunately, a small fee for recording access for new users is the only way to curb the relentless onslaught of bots.
Today’s AI (and troll farms) can easily overlook the question “are you a bot?”

…This the only way to fight a huge wave of bots. Musk makes this very clear in his post in which he responds to the X Daily News account that charging new users a “small amount” to access the post is the “only way” to solve this problem due to current AI and troll farms being able to easy to complete CAPTCHA.
But nothing happens. Are you a new user and don’t want to spend money on publishing? Elon told you: you’ll have to wait until he’s 3 months old on the platform to be able to do this:
Part of what makes X special is that anyone can simply post without having to pay for it.
We definitely need to stop the bots, but what about being able to pay OR do something extremely computationally expensive (like mine some dogecoin or something) https://t.co/F1FGNsYU5S

We understand that for these 3 months the user will at some point have to pay “X fee” (if you call it something). Let’s imagine that bots are capable schedule your first publication for 3 months from the date of registration…then all of this won’t make any sense either.
As usual old twitter did not provide details about when this policy will go into effect and how much new users will have to pay to publish. It’s worth remembering that in New Zealand and the Philippines, new users of the platform must pay one dollar per year to be able to post and interact on X, so it is possible that this measure will be extended to other territories. The same way.
