Emily Blunt is rumored to star in sensational film about Dwayne Johnson and Benny Safdie

Benny Safdie’s A24 film Crushing Machine already stars Dwayne Johnson. Emily Blunt may also join the cast.

Reunion on the Jungle Cruise?

Jeff Snyder of The InSneider reports that Blunt is in talks for The Smashing Machine. She previously starred opposite Johnson in Disney’s 2021 film Jungle Cruise.

Crash Machine is a new sports drama from Safdie for A24. It will depict the life of former UFC champion Mark Kerr. Dwayne Johnson will play Kerr in the biopic.

Benny Safdie was previously part of the Safdie brothers’ directorial team. As a duo, they made films such as Good Time and Uncut Gems. They also released Funny Pages in A24 size.

As an actor, Safdie starred in the films Good Time, Pieces of a Woman, Licorice Pizza, Are You There, God? It’s me, Margaret, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Oppenheimer.

Emily Blunt first gained fame thanks to her role in the film The Devil Wears Prada. She then starred in films such as Gulliver’s Travels, Gnomeo and Juliet, Looper and Into the Woods. Blunt also voiced a role in the English dub of Hayao Miyazaki’s The Wind Rises.

Some of Blunt’s roles include Edge of Tomorrow, in which she starred opposite Tom Cruise, and Sicario. In subsequent years, Blunt starred in films such as The Huntsman: Winter’s War, The Girl on the Train and Mary Poppins Returns (in the title role). She also stars in the A Quiet Place franchise, which is directed by her husband John Krasinski.

In 2023, Blunt also starred opposite Safdie in Oppenheimer. In the film, she played the wife of an outstanding physicist, Kitty. In the future, she will star in the films The Fallen Boy with Ryan Gosling and If from Krasinski.
