Emily Blunt’s sexy BAFTA hairstyle was inspired by French icon Brigitte Bardot
Emily Blunt and her glam squad brought the ’60s spirit to the 2024 BAFTAs on Sunday. It was a big night for Blunt, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the ceremony and later co-hosted the British Fashionannual Fashion & Film party – she sported Brigitte Bardot’s signature hairstyle along with “soft, sexy but classic” makeup. “This was the look Emily envisioned with the dress, and we all supported it,” said her makeup artist Jenn Streicher.

The look started—like all good things—with a thoughtful skincare regimen. “Skin care is always important to us because Emily really takes good care of her skin,” says Streicher. “I started with the Chantecaille Bio Lifting Serum+ and then used the Bio Lifting and Massage Tool (not yet released in the UK) for a good five minutes before applying my moisturizer and eye cream. The product really helps improve blood circulation – it’s a must, especially when traveling.”
Once Emily’s skin was optimally hydrated and defined, she applied the signature Le Camouflage Stylo, a crease-proof concealer that can be used all over the face to conceal uneven skin tone, blemishes and dark spots. “This is an ideal product to use under eyeshadow to prolong wear and even out skin tone,” says Streicher. “I then applied Luster Glide Liner in Amethyst along the lash line, followed by Le Stylo Ultra Slim Liner in black.” Thus was born the camera-ready eye.
Blunt changed her hairstyle between the BAFTAs and the after-party, but her original look was easily scrapped. “I first smoothed Emily’s hair with a round brush and styled it into the center section, then once it was dry, I applied a light hair oil to smooth out the ends,” says hairstylist Laney Reeves. “I then used the Harry Josh Cordless Curling Iron to gently curl the hair, putting it into a top knot and leaving soft strands to frame the face for a ’60s look.”
Here are some key details of the look.
