Brazilian influencer Fernanda CarolinaKnown as the Paris Locust on social media, he tragically died in a car accident in Paris. The 31-year-old content creator was running on the city streets when she was hit by a car.
Fernanda carried an Apple Watch with a crash detection system, which sent an alert to her partner Pedro Angelo Abateguara Rosal, who was listed as her emergency contact.
The message said: “Fernanda has had an accident and you are the emergency contact.” Pedro immediately tried to talk to his wife, but when he got no response, he went to the place indicated by the device.
The accident occurred at the intersection between the residential areas of Saint-Cloud and Suresnes, west of Paris. Upon arrival, Abateguara Rosal found emergency services trying to revive the affected person.

This crash detection system is available on all iPhone 14 and later models that work with iOS 16 or higher versions. As far as watches go, it can be activated on Apple Watch Series 8 and later models as well as the second-generation Apple Watch SE and Apple Watch Ultra or newer versions running watchOS 9 or later.
The system works through advanced sensors that detect sudden changes in acceleration and speed, allowing accidents to be detected automatically.
On supported iPhone and Apple Watch models, crash detection is turned on by default.
“If you are unable to respond, your device automatically calls emergency services after a 20-second delay. Apple adds, “If you’ve added emergency contacts, your device sends a message to share your location and tell them you’ve been in a serious car accident.”
