First Division changes the start date of the Clausura 2023

The Directory of the First division professional officialized the start of the tournament Closing 2023 for Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 January.
The announcement was made public by the president of the Major League, Pedro David Hernández, who assured that the delay is due to the fact that they are still waiting for the endorsement of the FESFUT Regularization Commission for the signing of the economic and sports agreement with the National Institute of Sports of El Salvador (INDES) that the league sent to the federal entity on Wednesday, January 11.
“This day we have had a regular meeting of the board of directors and we have discussed two very important issues,” said the capital leader.
“The first is the extension for a week of the Clausura 2023 tournament, starting on January 28 and 29 and we tried to keep the completion date scheduled for May 28, but it meant accommodating a Wednesday for the tournament, so it was voted In the end, it is better to extend the tournament one more week to finish it on Sunday, June 4,” he said.
With this announcement, the major league also confirmed that the matches of the first date of Clausura 2023 will be Platense-Alianza, Dragón-Jocoro, Santa Tecla-Águila, Luis Ángel Firpo-Atlético Marte, Isidro Metapán-AD Chalatenango and FAS-Once Deportivo .
It is still pending to ratify venues, day and time of the six games of the opening date of the Clausura 2023 since the FAS and Luis Ángel Firpo teams are still waiting for the endorsement by the FESFUT Sports Arena Review Commission to schedule night matches at their respective locations.
On the second point discussed at the board of directors meeting, Hernández admitted that “as you know, we are against time to confirm the arrival of a new sponsor (agreement with INDES), but at the request of the FESFUT Regularization Commission of To be prudent on the issue of sponsorships, the previous Wednesday we sent you the draft of said pre-contract to receive your approval or your comments,” he explained.
