Gasoline prices rise in Florida
Fuel prices increased by US$0.08 last week in Florida, USA. On Sunday, January 7, the price for a gallon of gasoline was recorded at $3.16. The reason for the rise in hydrocarbon prices lies in the prolongation of Israel’s war in Palestine.
Oil reached $73.81 per barrel last week.
This figure has an impact of more than 50% on the cost of gasoline. El Nuevo Herald recently reported that crude oil prices have risen to almost $2.00 per barrel in recent days.
However, drivers in this North American state are now paying fewer dollars than they would have paid during the same period in 2023.
According to the American Automobile Association (AAA), a group of auto clubs, the price of a gallon of gas that day was $3.30.
AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins said gas station rates have been trending upward in recent weeks.
Mr Jenkins also believes this behavior may continue in the coming days.
Prices by city
Florida cities with the lowest prices include Crestview and Fort Walton Beach at $2.82. These locations are followed by Panama City at $2.83 and Pensacola at $2.89.
The most expensive amounts are in West Palm Beach and Boca Raton, where gas costs $3.32. While in Naples you pay $3.20, the same as in Homosassa Springs.
In September 2023, the cost of fuel in the state of Florida increased by $0.09.
Then the reason was associated with a decrease in hydrocarbon production.
Several countries belonging to the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) then reduced production.
