Gemini AI is starting to roll out on iOS, and that’s the path Google has chosen | Life style

Google is working very hard to expand its new commitment to artificial intelligence: Twins, who, among other things, aims to replace his assistant. The point is that this chatbot It’s already coming to Apple’s iOS operating system… but in a different way than what happened on Android.

If you are a user iPhone, you won’t be able to access Gemini through a dedicated app, as Google did. It may be surprising, but the truth is that this is exactly the decision Mountain View made. However, you can enable AI in your Google app via a switch located right at the top of this development.

What happens if Gemini is activated in the Google app

Once you decide to activate Gemini, your Google app will change accordingly and from that point on it will allow you to switch between regular search with a discovery interface or, failing that, you can use a generative AI tool. which we are talking about (for this, it turns out, dialog box highlighted below).

To use the tool you just need press the microphone button to talk to Gemini, and once this process is completed, click on the regular access to submit to Google. At this point, the process begins until the desired result is obtained. Of course, responses aren’t automatically read either: so you’ll have to use the speaker icon if you want to listen to the generated response. Thus, the use of Mountain View’s new artificial intelligence is complete.

Use cases that are extensive in iOS

The capabilities offered by the new addition range from using text, voice, images, and even the ability to use your phone’s camera to interact with Gemini on iOS. AI can provide a wide range of types of answers: summaries of complex topics; generate code; write texts such as thank you notes and emails; create your own images; and many other possibilities.

Obviously, since this is iOS, it has its own built-in assistant – i.e. Siri– you can’t do things like call Gemini on any screen to get contextual help. This is only available for Android phones. This is something that should be perfectly clear.

Luckily, it looks like Apple is also working on new AI features for the iPhone, and judging by various sources, a large number of them will be possible. we’ll see how they appear with iOS 18. We hope that they will become a worthy replacement for Siri, which is really needed.
