At the National Congress of Dermatologists and Venereologists, there was a call to join forces and support patients and researchers of this serious disease.

The burning body was filmed at the Congress of Dermatologists to draw attention to generalized pustular psoriasis, a disease about which very little is known, which in Spain affects only 13 people per million, but whose symptoms make it extremely difficult to lead a normal life. Generalized pustular psoriasis was talked about a lot at the 51st National Congress of Dermatologists and Venereologists: “As for psoriasis, generalized pustular psoriasis, we understand that this is the most serious psoriasis, the one that has a more serious impact both. Therefore, we must also provide patients with the necessary resources , so that they can recover from their disease,” explains Santiago Alfonso, director of Acción Psoriasis. This pathology is usually confused with other diseases, so it has a complex diagnosis: “This is a disease that affects not only the skin, but sometimes the entire body. Patients may have a fever, they may have arthritis, so it needs to be diagnosed, and above all, it needs to be diagnosed because there are already treatments that already help us better control this disease,” explains Raquel Rivera, head of the department dermatology in the hospital on October 12. For this reason, this call is being made so that diseases such as generalized pustular psoriasis are no longer hidden, but patients are visible, as Elena Gobart, medical director of the specialist care franchise in Boehringer Ingelheim, Spain, explains: “We help patients by carrying out high-quality clinical research that leads us to develop medicines that can help improve the quality of life of patients.” A disease that is getting closer to recognition every day.
