Greta Gerwig wants to make two more films set in Sacramento, a possible sequel to Lady Bird
Greta Gerwig is a Sacramento native and used the California city as the setting for her 2017 hit. Ladybug. According to Gerwig, she would not only like to return to the city for future films, but also to revisit it in the world of Lady Bird.
During a recent question and answer session, Gerwig was asked if she would like to return to the world of Lady Bird and make a series of films about the heroine’s life. The director said she hadn’t thought of something like that, but she would like to do it because she loves actress Saoirse Ronan.
“I didn’t think of it that way, although part of me would have liked it because I love Saoirse as an actress and I love her character,” Gerwig said. “And this character is very close to me, and… I wasn’t like that, but he’s almost the same person that I would like to be, but I wasn’t so confident in myself.”
Gerwig has several more films planned with Sacramento
Gerwig said she would be open to returning to the film, but also definitely plans to bring more films to the city of Sacramento and already has several ideas in the works.
“I would reconsider this. I know I definitely want to make more films in Sacramento, that’s what I want to do. I have a vague idea about the other two. So it will happen. So keep an eye out for the Sacramento trilogy,” Gerwig joked.
Gerwig is currently enjoying the huge success of her latest film, Barbie. The film was not only a worldwide box office hit (grossing over $1.4 billion), but also received a ton of award nominations. The film recently won two Golden Globe awards, including Best Original Song.
