Half-Life sets new record for connected players, 25 years after its release

TO 25 years after launch original, first Half life has established a new log of connected players on Steam, at least during the period in which the tracking of this data is made public, which shows how Valve’s title is still relevant after all this time.

The wave of nostalgic recreation is obviously driven by 25th anniversary celebration of Half-Life, on the occasion of which Valve published a large update to the game, complete with a related documentary. There was also a promotion with free distribution of the title, which undoubtedly helped attract players to Gordon Freeman’s first adventure.

In the last 24 hours, Half-Life has reached a peak of simultaneously connected players of 33,467which is the highest ever recorded in the game in question at least since data tracking has existed, that is, since 2008.

There was clearly aspecial occasion to push this re-release, but at least it shows how Half-Life is still a decidedly fun title, even 25 years after its original release.

On the other hand, it is one of the most influential games in the history of the medium, along with its sequel, Half-Life 2, capable of evolving the first-person shooter genre with new elements related to exploration, interaction with settings and narration.

The new update published last Friday, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary, brought several new features such as the Half-Life Uplink mini-campaign, four new multiplayer maps, support for Steam Deck and the reintroduction of some content that had been eliminated.
