Hospital Ruber Internacional strengthens the women’s department of its health center Paseo de la Habana with new specialists and services.

In June, it will include prestigious professionals such as Dr. Alvarez Bernardi or Dr. Martin Pedraza. The goal continues to be, among other things, prevention, early diagnosis and treatment of gynecological and breast diseases.

Ruber International Hospital has expanded the portfolio of medical specialties offered by the women’s department of the Paseo Medical Center in Havana. “The main goal is to offer in another geographical location an alternative to the extensive services currently provided by the specialists in the women’s department of the Ruber International Hospital,” says Dr. Juan José Vidal, director of the department.

In this sense, as the women’s department has done throughout its long existence in the hospital, now, as the specialist specifies, the basis of gynecological care that will be carried out in the center of Paseo de la Habana “It will be prevention, early diagnosis and treatment of gynecological diseases and diseases breast, as well as a woman’s own help and personal consultations at all stages of her life: from adolescence, pregnancy, adulthood, menopause, menopause and aging.” All this thanks to preferential and individual patient admission.

Currently, on behalf of the women’s department in this center on Paseo de la Habana, her nursing work is carried out by Dr. Elena Melia, “who cares for all types of patients in our specialty, obstetrics and gynecology, emphasizing her specialization in medicine. reproduction, prenatal diagnosis (3D-4D ultrasound) and care for women during menopause and menopause,” he adds.

Now, thanks to the expansion launched by Ruber International at the Havana Medical Center, in June of this year, Dr. Julio Alvarez Bernardi, head of the women’s group and expert in gynecological oncology and breast, as well as minimally invasive gynecological surgery for pathologies of high surgical complexity. Specifically, he will continue to provide care for issues related to “endometriosis, uterine fibroids, enlarged uterus and pelvic floor prolapse; offering personal consultations to obtain a second opinion on these pathologies,” says the doctor.

In addition, it will improve advice on the prevention and early diagnosis of gynecological and breast cancer, offering the possibility of carrying out all necessary tests on the same day in collaboration with other services such as pathology and radiology, regardless of whether they are liquid-based cytology with detection of human papillomavirus for the prevention of cervical cancer, molecular studies, high-resolution gynecological ultrasound and diagnostic hysteroscopy for the prevention of endometrial cancer, or immediate mammography using 3D tomosynthesis and breast ultrasound for the diagnosis of early stage breast cancer.

In the coming weeks, the Havana center will be joined by Dr. Maria Teresa Martin Pedraza, who, in addition to caring for all types of patients in the specialty of both gynecology and obstetrics, “is an expert in the field of gynecology (vaginal rejuvenation, treatment of vulvovaginal atrophy and scleroatrophic lesions, and urinary incontinence), providing the most advanced treatments using methods such as laser, hyaluronic acid, botulinum toxin or platelet-rich plasma,” emphasizes Dr. Vidal.

Likewise, Dr. José Rubio, a specialist in minimally invasive surgery, will soon join the team at the women’s department of the Ruber Internacional Centro Médico Habana.
