How does tobacco smoke affect human health?

Everyone knows the harm associated with smoking. Therefore, stopping the consumption of tobacco and nicotine completely is always the best option for smokers. This is the great goal of the control measures that exist all over the world. At present, these measures are aimed at two goals: to retain those who have not yet started smoking (prevention policy) and to encourage those who already smoke to quit (cessation policy). However, there are still more than 1 billion smokers in the world, and according to estimates by the World Health Organization (WHO), this figure will not change significantly in the coming years.

“There are still more than 8 million smokers in Spain alone – and more than 1 billion worldwide – and by 2025 this figure is not expected to change significantly.”

For this group of people who would otherwise continue to smoke despite knowing the consequences of the habit, it is important that they know the science behind alternatives to cigarettes. It is important to eliminate misunderstandings and potential problems and provide adult smokers with accurate, scientifically based information so that they can make informed decisions.
