It has been difficult to say the least. I have been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that attacks my pancreas and triggers pancreatitis. Chronic disease is associated with diverticulitis, IBS, hiatal hernia and colitis. These diseases combined have destroyed my pancreas. I have exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. This means that my pancreas is not making the enzymes to digest my food. The cost of the medicine to treat it is approximately $6000.00 per month cash price. My first copayment was $400 and the rest is $1200.00 per month! If I don’t take medications I can’t absorb nutrients. It is beyond our financial capabilities to afford $1200 per month. I am extremely tired all the time due to poor absorption of nutrients. One positive thing is that I am losing weight. They did two biopsies on my pancreas because they were afraid I had cancer. Thank God I don’t. They were afraid that my pancreas would stop making insulin. Praise God, it continues to produce insulin like this.

I had to sell my season tickets and parking passes this year. I’m looking forward to being able to return to the Valley next fall and celebrate everything that is Clemson with 100,000 Clemson family members. I appreciate every one of you who replied to my original post about my pancreas problems.

My pancreas becomes inflamed about eleven times per month and I have to be hospitalized for at least four days per visit. A $50k hospital stay is also destroying our budget.

I remain positive and am doing everything possible to ensure success. I really appreciate the kind words, thoughts and prayers from my Tiger family. You guys are amazing! Two of my degrees come from the UNC system. Although I do not claim them. I’m a Tiger through and through.

I am very saddened to hear about these challenges, but I pray for peace beyond all understanding as well as complete healing and restoration. I also pray for provisions to help you deal with the financial burden. Hang in there, God is good!

Wow brother, this is difficult. Prayers for you and all concerned, and

Our prayers continue for you and your family for peace, comfort and resolution of financial stress. Is there anything we can do to help? I’ve never set up a GO Fund Me account, but someone in the Tiger family certainly has. We would certainly be willing to contribute.

I think your body is really rejecting those two degrees, JD.

Oh, the free nature of our youth…. ,

But the prayers continue, man! You only have three ingredients needed:

Fight, Joy and Faith!

They will provide, no doubt!

First of all, I want to say, God bless you my Tiger friend and prayers may go ahead
The mountains keep the faith. Second, I think it’s a shame that drugs
Your needs are affordable only to the rich.

Only in America! Every other developed country has universal healthcare

But at least we have the freedom to go bankrupt and die from treatable diseases.

who takes hold of your right hand
And says to you, do not be afraid;

Prayers for you and your family.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be disheartened, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
