I tested the generative artificial intelligence of Xiaomi 14 Ultra. I don’t know if I love it or if it scares me
Our first impressions of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra are questionable. This phone will take some time to arrive in Spain, but we have already been able to get our hands on it. However, there were some important features that we were not able to thoroughly test, such as the new implementation artificial intelligence in the gallery app.
Entering the race against Google and Samsung, Xiaomi has impressive potential in this area. As part of MWC 24, I had a good time with the gallery app and its generative AI. The results are… interesting.
Everything in this photo is fake. Even the person who appears in it
AI portrait. This is the new star feature in Xiaomi’s gallery, and the devices we were able to test at MWC had it active. The principle of operation is quite interesting: we upload several photos to the model, ideally more than 13. Xiaomi explains to us that the more photos we upload to the model, the better.
After we have uploaded the photos, something happens person profile. We can add multiple profiles with photos of ourselves, our friends, family… The goal is that we will have a model saved with multiple photos for each person and not have to upload a different photo every time we are going to create an image AI.
After creating a model from the interface, we can give it instructions to create an image. This is done via text and we can set fast what we want Thanks to the generative capabilities of the artificial intelligence of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and the information that Xiaomi collects, we got an impressive final result.
We can take photographs in the Alps, on the beach or anywhere in the world. We can wear any clothes we want and even dress up as a superhero. Any hint that comes to mind can be materialized in images with sufficient accuracy.
The results you see are false. From the position of the subject to clothing, location and absolutely everything that appears in the scene. It’s more like training Midjourney with our photos and starting asking it to literally generate whatever we want.
A potential that surpasses even the generative AI we saw in the Google Pixel 8 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. In addition to these features, Xiaomi 14 Ultra is capable of filling in photos using artificial intelligence when we want to resize them, remove objects, etc. Features that we will test even more thoroughly when we have the final review unit, but which left us with a rather sweet taste in our mouths upon first contact.
