Indra will create a space company with the entire value chain in Spain
Indra presented its strategic plan for 2024-2026 Leading the future with which she wants to become a “champion of national defense” and a European actor of the highest level, first level, according to her president, Mark Murtraand its CEO, Jose Vicente de los Mosos. Space will be one of four divisions of the Spanish company, which is seeking a more flexible structure, and will bill €6 billion in 2026 and €10 billion in 2030.
In this regard, Indra aims to create the first space company with the entire value chain in Spain, and for this it is looking at the cards on the table. Even last year there were rumors about a supposed interest in becoming a shareholder Hipasatwhose CEO, Miguel Angel Pandurocommented Infoespacial.com that he acknowledged it was an “attractive company for consolidation and growth” but had no news about their intentions.
This has already been clarified by De los Mosos himself, who commented at a press conference that “we must see companies that adapt to this criterion, that can pay the asking price and that provide value to the shareholder. Of course, Hispasat is one of the possibilities, but it is not the only one.” He then listed as part of the competition: Satellogic, Sener, GMW and spatial part Thales. In this sense, it is worth noting that the capital of the subsidiary will be mainly Spanish in order to have access to European programs.
While Indra did not specify the timing of the said company’s launch, they stated that the decision is based on “exploiting the relevance that Space is gaining in both the civilian and military world.” And, in addition, it must have end-to-end capabilities, be open to the participation of future shareholders and ensure Spanish sovereignty in the field of communications.
