Is Mamma Mia 3 Really Happening?
16 years have passed since the first Mamma Mia The film graced our screens, bringing Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried and a host of other megastars together for an all-singing, all-dancing island extravaganza. Meryl Streep hints at Mamma Mia return
There was talk about a third Mamma Mia movie for a while now. Back in October last year, producer Judy Cramer said that the third film would definitely “come out”, it was only a matter of time. She said Diversity: “I’m in a privileged position: I have Universal Studios who wants to do it, who I love working with, and I have a storyline.”
She added: “It’s just that with Mamma Mia it always takes a certain amount of time. Bjorn and Benny always require a certain degree of convincing. I don’t know how much more convincing they’ll be because everyone wants another movie.
“But they had ABBA Voyage, and then they wanted a break from ABBA music. But it will happen. We’ve finished the TV show and now maybe I’ll focus on the movie. Perhaps this will be the second celebration of the 25th anniversary.”
Then, at the Cannes Film Festival this week, Meryl Streep added fuel to the fire by announcing that she would “immediately” meet with Kramer to discuss the project. Talking to deadline About the project, she said: “I don’t know how they’re going to do it. They have an idea.
