“It was joy and such excitement.”

Addison Rae opened up about her booming music career in a new interview with People magazine, published Wednesday.

The 23-year-old artist began her singing career with the release of her first single, Obsessed, in 2021, and released her debut EP entitled AR in 2023.

The TikTok personality, who was recently spotted with her boyfriend Omer Fedi, started off by saying she was very happy with her new creative endeavors.

Of her recording career, she said: “It’s been a joy, so exciting, so fulfilling and rewarding, and I feel like it’s always so nice to just put something out.”

Rae spoke about how several of her demos were leaked online following the release of Obsessed, and stated that she was subsequently inspired to complete work on her debut EP.

She recalled: “I still have no idea how it happened, but everything happens for a reason. After songs I didn’t know appeared on the Internet, I thought, “Oh, I wish there was a way for me to publish them.”

The performer then stated that she wasn’t necessarily put off by leaks and was enthusiastic about sharing her work with fans.

“I love these songs so much. They are such a huge part of my life. It’s always so exciting to see something you’ve worked hard for come to fruition,” she said.

Rae also discussed her track Nothing On (But the Radio), which was originally recorded by Lady Gaga over a decade ago, although the track’s official release was delayed after the song was leaked.

A representative of the social network expressed hope that the Bad Romance singer listened to her version of the song.

“I’m obviously Lady Gaga’s biggest fan. She has always been a pioneer of pop music and experimentation. I’d like to know if she heard it. This is a very different version than hers, so it would be interesting to know what she thinks,” she said.

Rae concluded by stating that she is currently finishing up work on several other songs and teased her fans by hinting that she plans to perform live in the near future.

“I’m always in the studio, so we’ll see what happens… I definitely want to bring them all to life,” she said.

While creating AR, the social media star collaborated with several people, including Selena Gomez’s boyfriend Benny Blanco, who co-produced the film Taken.

The TikTok star also worked with Charli XCX, who featured on the track 2 Die 4.

AR was released on August 18, 2023 and peaked at number 19 on the Billboard US Heatseekers Albums chart.

Rae’s debut EP was met with generally positive reviews from critics upon its release.
