It’s official: 32 Club World Cup teams confirmed!

The new expanded Club World Championship, which will be held next summer in the USA, has already assembled a full roster of participating teams. Botafogo, which won the Copa Libertadores, became the last of the 32 clubs to qualify for the FIFA World Cup. which will henceforth be held every four years.

The two Spaniards will be Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid, as has been known for a long time due to Madrid’s status as Champions League champions in 2022 and also because the Colchoneros are ahead of Barca in the FIFA rankings. The limit on the number of teams per country is two, excluding the Catalan team.

The exception to this rule is the presence of unclear continental champions in the years leading up to the World Cup, which is what happened. with the Brazilians (Palmeiras, Flamengo, Fluminense and Botafogo) and with the Mexicans (Leon, Rayados and Pachuca).

The draw for the final stage will take place this Thursday, December 5, in Miami. The pots have not yet been determined, although it is known that the geographical criteria and ranking of each confederation will be respected as far as possible.

There will be eight groups of four, and the first two will advance to the round of 16. The first game will take place in Miami; final – New York-New Jersey.

The tournament will take place from June 15 to July 13, 2025.
